Wildman Wilderness Lodge is a world away from the busyness of everyday life. Yet it’s only a 2 hour+ drive from Darwin Airport, mostly on well-sealed highway. Once you’re there you’ll feel the quietness of this gentle riverside site start to seep in and relax you to your core.
Sitting on the site of a previous wilderness lodge, the Wildman Lodge was transported across from Queensland in a heroic recycling effort that crossed between states. You’d never know the 10 eco-chic Habitat cabins and 15 rustic Safari tents were once part of an outback retreat in far northern Queensland.
There are so many reasons to visit - on-site and local activities include bird-watching, fishing, hiking, billabong cruises, wetland air-boat tours, mountain biking and cultural walks. Further afield, take a day trip in to the Kakadu National Park and learn about the intriguing culture and environment of the local indigenous people. Kakadu has some exceptional ancient rock art, waterfalls and walking trails, river cruises and fabulous places like Ubirr, the East Alligator River and the Mamukala observation platform.
The menu at Wildman Wilderness Lodge has been designed to feature only local or Australian produce and foods. Not limited by this at all, the cuisine offers local meats and fish such as beef, buffalo, crocodile and barramundi. It also highlights interesting local foods like fragrant lemon myrtle, bush tomatoes and pepperberry. The wine list is extensive, featuring some of the best Australia has to offer. And their custom-made vodka - a blend of blood lime, lemon myrtle and a hint of orange - hand-made by the Archie Rose distillery in Sydney.
Wildman Wilderness Lodge offers a memorable stay for families, couples and groups and delivers an enticing array of land and water-based activities that will make your stay truly memorable.
