The El Questro experience is all about the wide open spaces of the true Australian outback. Sitting above the Chamberlain River this elegant luxury lodge has just nine suites, meaning there will only be 18 guests at most at any time. Part of a vast 700,000 acre property, El Questro Homestead is just one element of a richly diverse stay where every day will be filled with adventure, huge views and fascinating experiences.
The accommodation includes a mix of Homestead and Gorge View Rooms, Cliffside Retreats and the Chamberlain Suite, the lodge’s most luxurious accommodation, perched out over the river. All rooms have a private balcony, and all but the Homestead Rooms have bathtubs with stunning views. The daily rate includes your accommodation, all meals and selected drinks, your own self-drive boat, bush culture, history and bird-watching tours and other guided walks. Access is also given to the Zebedee Thermal Springs each afternoon, and your day ends with a sunset tour.
In addition to the included activities there’s a big range of additional tours and experiences available, either by 4WD, helicopter, boat or on foot. Take a 4WD and boat tour to Explosion Gorge, a heli tour to the Miri Miri or Amaroo waterfalls, or a scenic flight over the El Questro landscape. There are also guided horse treks, 4WD or heli-fishing trips for barramundi, and the chance to visit the Kimberley Coast, the Bungle Bungles, the Mitchell or King George Falls, and more. The Big Day Out tour lets you spot the Kimberley Big 5: brolgas, jabirus, saltwater crocodiles, bullocks and wallaroos. These tours vary from Easy to Hard, giving something for everyone, and personalised itineraries are available.
And a stay at the El Questro Homestead wouldn’t be complete without mention of the fine food served each day. From breakfast on your verandah in the morning, to shared or picnic lunches, and dinner under the stars either at a private or shared table, you’ll enjoy the chef’s interpretation of the beautiful local food and wines on offer, at every meal.
